For most of my life, movement meant being outdoors. Hiking, backpacking, trail running, climbing, and skiing, to name a few. Crossfit came into my life in 2009 when I met Matt and Cherie Chan and joined their small gym in Denver. Inspired by the community and competition inherent in Crossfit, I was hooked. I competed every chance I got, and found that my sweat in the gym supported my outdoor endeavors beautifully. I became more physically capable than I ever thought possible!
Over time, Crossfit has evolved from simply an adult playground of fun challenges, to include a more holistic approach. How can I use Crossfit for longevity, mental/emotional health, and knowing and supporting myself and my loved ones better? Each WOD is an opportunity to practice, not just physical movement, but also awareness around self-talk, connection with others, and body-mind connection. I truly believe that Crossfit is an amazing way to move our bodies that can be beneficial for every single person who finds enjoyment in it.
Other than Crossfit, I've been an elementary and middle school teacher and part-time Crossfit coach for, both in Denver and Seoul, South Korea. I love to travel, be outdoors whenever possible, have intellectually stimulating conversation over a hot beverage, read, write, and practice yoga and meditation. I'm a podcast and self-improvement junkie who values collecting experiences over stuff, and love above all else.
