A year ago, I was working in a windowless, basement office, filing papers in what was supposed to be a research position, suffering the condescension of an abusive environment, fearing deeply that my predicament was permanent. So, I want to thank you all—Scott Narreau, the CFE athletes, my family, my partner, and my friends—for offering me a way out of that basement.

I anticipate the year ahead to present life’s inherent challenges and hardships, as every year does, but for the first time in a very, very long time, I trust the nature of these obstacles will only improve the quality of my life and the character of my being.

What I owe you, the CFE community, for your unconditional love and support is nearly impossible to put into words. Just know that not a day goes by that I don’t recognize how invaluable you are and how very lucky I am.

May this next rotation around the sun be kind and generous to you. Let’s celebrate all damn year this wonderful thing we’ve created.

Love you with all my liver,

Whitne
