My first CrossFit experience was from a friend encouraging me to join them for a WOD at their gym. I always thought I was in pretty good shape; I figured I would just walk in and kill the WOD. Halfway through the WOD everyone around me was progressing faster and moving a lot more weight than me… this is hard! Post WOD, as I lay in a puddle of sweat, grasping for air I reflected on the brutality I just experienced and thought to myself “I can’t wait to come back and do this again!”
I’ve now been doing CrossFit for over four years. I love the intensity, the competition, the camaraderie but most of all I love the challenge of making myself and others better every day. I love member’s reactions to their own and others hard work paying off. Being one of the “smaller” guys at the gym I enjoy when body weight movements are in the WOD as they play to my strengths but also enjoy the challenge of keeping up with the big guys in Olympic weightlifting.
